It is a must-attend for business and technical leaders looking to advance open source strategy\, implementation\, and investment in their organizations and learn how to collaboratively manage the largest shared technology investment of our time. \nKate Stewart\, Vice President of Dependable Embedded Systems\, is on-site at Member Summit. She’ll be giving a presentation on Thursday\, November 10 at 3:10-3:40 pm PT titled\, “Depending on Open Source for Embedded Systems.” \nOpen source software has an increasing role in embedded system software today\, as products are leveraging the new functionality and abstraction emerging. From cars\, to wearables\, to smart homes\, improved energy infrastructure\, it surrounds us. There are now more IoT devices on this planet than there are people\, and we’re on track to double the number of devices in a few short years. The more we interact with these devices\, the more we need them to be dependable. We need to bring the quality and security best practices from open source development of clouds and desktops to the resource constrained devices and ensure they can have the appropriate levels of quality\, security\, maintainability\, reliability and in some cases\, safety considerations. This talk will focus on some examples of best practices adopted in key projects like Linux\, Zephyr\, Yocto and how they are helping to improve the transparency of software as well as enable improved quality and system level analysis to ensure dependability. \nThe Linux Foundation Member Summit is an invitation-only event for member companies of The Linux Foundation and Linux Foundation Projects.
