About the job

It is an exciting time to join Nordic Semiconductor as we continue to build upon our successful history of wireless innovation. As a Staff Firmware Engineer, you will be a key player in our highly skilled and collaborative Product Marketing team. You’ll have the freedom and autonomy to manage your clear responsibilities. Product Marketing’s focus is on increasing the adoption of our solutions through strategic marketing activities, for example through teaching developers how to develop wireless products with our ICs, SDK, and tools.

We are seeking a self-reliant and structured firmware engineer with proven track record in developing advanced embedded firmware based on Zephyr. This role offers the chance to be part of our Nordic Developer Academy journey, which has seen nearly 10,000 developers sign up in less than two years and we’re proud to have achieved an average course rating of 9 out of 10. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a platform that’s making a significant impact.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain the firmware utilized in the hands-on exercises within the online courses.
  • Create and maintain the step-by-step instructions in the hands-on exercises within the online courses.
  • Manage CI/CD test and validation for DevAcademy’s GitHub repositories.
  • Develop demos and embedded projects that highlight the features and capabilities of our products.
  • Stay up to date on upcoming changes to Zephyr, the nRF Connect SDK, industry trends, and advancements in firmware development.

 

Qualification and skills

  • BS/MSC in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Cybernetics, Computer Science, Communication Technology, or related discipline.
  • Several years of designing and developing embedded firmware solutions for wireless products.
  • Strong experience with the Zephyr RTOS, git and CI/CD for embedded.
  • Advanced proficiency in C/C++ programming.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. You should have strong problem-solving and analytical skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A proactive approach is essential, as the role involves taking initiative and leading projects from inception to delivery.
