The wristband for seniors

The Mobile Measurement Platform (MPP) project involves designing and developing a prototype wearable device, a wristband for elderly individuals, known as the wristband for seniors.

This wristband is equipped with a gyroscope, accelerometer, heart rate sensor, pulse oximeter, GPS module (LTE-M), GSM, data storage, and an operational algorithm. The data collected by this wristband will facilitate drawing conclusions and recommending specific actions for its users (seniors), thereby supporting independent living for elderly people.

Zephyr RTOS is the foundation of the wristband system for seniors. It operates on the Nordic nRF5340 chip with BT. In addition to functioning as an RTOS, we use it as an ecosystem to accelerate the development of the client’s product.

The Zephyr RTOS provided what we needed without having to write our own drivers for the IMU, Sensor Hub and external memory.
