🗓️ Agenda Highlights:

6:00 PM – 6:15 PM

Wi-Fi for Industrial and Enterprise, Max Palumbo, NXP Semiconductors

Wi-Fi support in the Zephyr HAL is a new addition starting with the LTS 3 release. While the initial release of this functionality focuses on IoT and consumer use-cases, future releases of Zephyr will add support for industrial, enterprise, and medical features/functionality. NXP is leading the charge in delivering this functionality to the community, and in this presentation we will outline the new features that are being added.

6:15 PM – 6:45 PM

Zephyr Project: What’s next after 100K commits? Kate Stewart, VP of Dependable Embedded Systems, The Linux Foundation

In just 8 years, the Zephyr project has transformed from a small group into a diverse open community. This talk will highlight our growth, current challenges, and key initiatives for the upcoming year. Join us to explore our journey and what lies ahead!

6:45 PM – 7:00 PM

System Designer: Using Zephyr and other data for representing and developing complex systems by Michael Gielda, Co-Founder, Antmicro

Building, deploying and managing the lifecycle of Zephyr based products involves collaboration between hardware, software, mechanical and cloud engineers (on top of business development, marketing and other departments) – often under harsh time constraints. Through developing dozens of advanced industrial products, Antmicro has been building up a methodology and set of open source tools for collaborative development of complex systems. To share them with the world, we created a portal called System Designer (https://designer.antmicro.com) which offers a transparent, graphical environment for collaboration and reasoning about complete systems as they come to life – from custom heterogeneous SoCs to multi-node device networks.
The System Designer can be used to collect and organize information about software and hardware components, Zephyr compatibility, and generate detailed Hardware Bills of materials (HBOM). Its integration with the Renode open source simulation framework lets developers test their systems in simulation, using sample, also Zephyr- based, payloads. It aims to deliver full transparency between all layers of a project throughout the development lifecycle, and is being used to take Zephyr to some new frontiers – including sending it to space.

7:00 PM – 7:15 PM

Totally Reconfigurable Engineering Solution – Module Abstraction Layers by Chris Gammell, Golioth Developer Relations

Zephyr targets a wide range of hardware. What if we add in a planned layer of hardware abstraction at the module level? The pinout stays the same, the application code stays the same, and even the form factor stays the same! Then we could target different chip vendors, different connectivity types, and different price points. In this talk, Chris Gammell will talk about his experimentation with a new module concept, how it works with Zephyr, and how you might take similar ideas and apply it to your next design. Is this a good idea? Let’s find out!

7:15 PM – 7:30 PM

Quiz & Meetup wrapping

Whether you’re a seasoned developer or new to the Zephyr ecosystem, this meetup is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community, learn from experts, and expand your knowledge.
