In our many years of launching industrial IoT projects for clients, we have noticed a common chafing point: commercially available border routers and gateways tend to be uncustomizable, complex, and prohibitively expensive. So we made our own!
The Okrånglig Gateway is a Power-over-Ethernet driven, streamlined Linux SBC designed with usability, seamless deployment and reliability in mind. The nRF52833 co-CPU, running Zephyr RTOS, provides a best-in-class 2.4 GHz radio, as well as NFC tag emulation for seamless provisioning and configuration.
We required custom firmware for the radio/co-CPU that provides a radio host controller interface as well as NFC, some limited board controller functionality and a serial DFU bootloader. This was a breeze to achieve using Zephyr RTOS.
