On May 22, 2025, the Zephyr Project community gathered for an engaging in-person meetup in Kraków, Poland, hosted by Nordic Semiconductor at their local office. It was an evening of insightful talks and meaningful connections.
The event brought together experienced developers and curious newcomers, all united by a shared interest in Zephyr RTOS and low-power embedded development.
Łukasz Bielak, Embedded Firmware Engineer at Nordic Semiconductor, opened the evening with a welcome note that highlighted the growth of the Zephyr ecosystem and the importance of community-driven development in the embedded space.
Debugging Zephyr Applications – Mieszko Mieruński, CEO, Hacod
The first talk of the evening, “Debugging Zephyr Applications” by Mieszko Mieruński, CEO of Hacod, shared insights into the often-overlooked side of development—what happens when things go wrong, and traditional debugging isn’t an option.
Mieszko tackled the tricky issue of debugging devices that are physically inaccessible. Drawing from real-world scenarios, he walked the audience through Zephyr’s built-in debugging tools and strategies that allow engineers to diagnose and solve problems from afar, even when devices are housed in remote locations or embedded in motion. Twister 101: Practical Tips and Best Practices, Maciej Perkowski, Senior R&D Engineer, Nordic Semiconductor
After a short break, Maciej Perkowski, Senior R&D Engineer at Nordic Semiconductor, took the stage to explain Twister, Zephyr’s dedicated testing framework.
In his session titled “Twister 101: Practical Tips and Best Practices”, Maciej gave attendees a comprehensive overview of how Twister can dramatically enhance the testing pipeline. From running tests on real hardware to integrating with Pytest, he covered key techniques like test filtering, separating build and execution, and including custom fixtures. His hands-on examples sparked several follow-up questions, clear proof of the audience’s deep interest. Check the slides here and watch the session here.
Giveaways & Networking
The evening ended with a development kit giveaway, thanks to Nordic Semiconductor. Attendees stayed around to chat, ask questions, and share ideas.
Thank You!
Thanks to everyone who joined and made the event a success! Special thanks to Nordic Semiconductor for hosting and sponsoring the meetup.
